Some students enroll in Math 201 to learn descriptive and
inferential statistics. Others simply enroll in the course
in order to satisfy a requirement imposed on them by their
choice of major. Still others intend for the course to
satisfy the Quantitative Skills requirement of the
Associate of Arts degree at WWCC. Whatever your reasons for
enrolling, I want welcome you to the course and let you
know that Math 201 is unlike any algebra based math course
you've taken. While algebra (Math 95: Intermediate Algebra)
is a prerequisite for this course, you may surprised to
learn that we will not solve many equations, nor simplify
many expressions, nor graph many functions in the
traditional sense. So what will we spend our time learning?
I've included a few links which provide more information
about Statistics for your reading pleasure. By the end of
the course you should have a much better idea as to what
"Statistics" is all about.
